    This isn't related to the great Mr. Glass, but rather film. Do you have a good recommendation for a first camera to start shooting some stuff? I build a new computer and got some editing software (Avid academic version), but now am looking at cameras.

    Right now the only camera in my house is a Canon SD870 point and shoot. We have already talked about getting a video camera to start recording my daughter more, but I take it the problem with most handycam type cameras is the auto focus and therefore the lack of control of what you want to shoot. It seems like most of your stuff on here is using you Nikon D60 and then D90. Why do you like using a camera that can record video as opposed to a video camera? If I sound like a newb it's because I am. Just looking for a point in the right direction.
